Mrs. Ingham recalls the origins of the BSS program....
“The Blended Sound-Sight Program of Learning evolved because of numerous deep concerns which the writer [I] felt as she began her teaching career in the early thirties. Critical of the status quo, she sought to replace by trial and error whatever was not meeting the needs of her students. Among areas examined were the readers, phonics, grouping system, classroom management, means of reinforcement, student involvement in learning, goal setting, good literature and the amount of student writing. As each area was organized, a program of learning began to evolve, later known as The Blended Sound-Sight Program of Learning”

The BSS program developed by Mrs. Ingham over her 30+ years of teaching students. She has created a unique program where students are motivated and eager to learn to read, write, and spell. Her innovative ideas were born from her students using a blend of sound and sight.
